This shape is not arbitrary. It is a prayer wheel that doesn't turn.
Tibetan prayer wheels are cylinders with mantra wrapped around the outside and rolled scripture sealed inside, and turning one is held to be equivalent to reciting what it carries. Hand-held ones spin on a shaft. The big ones line monastery walls and get turned by everyone walking past.
This is that form reduced to something you can wear. It does not open. The mantra runs around the outside of the cylinder, where a full-size wheel would also hold scripture within it.
Om mani padme hum. Six syllables, the most recited words in Tibetan Buddhism.
For anyone with a practice they keep to themselves. It reads as a plain steel cylinder to anybody who cannot read the script.
It hangs vertically and turns freely on the bail, so the mantra faces different ways as you move. Closer to how the original works than a flat pendant would be. The steel needs nothing at all.
A good first Tibetan piece, because it carries the most recited words in the tradition and asks nothing of you beyond wearing it.

Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
