The fat, laughing one is not the Buddha most people think he is.
He is Budai, a wandering monk remembered in China as the Buddha still to come, Maitreya, and the belly is the whole point of him. Over the doors of Chinese temple halls he sits beneath a couplet that opens 大肚能容: a belly big enough to hold what the world can't. The insult, the bad week, the thing somebody said at work. He takes it in and laughs, and he doesn't carry it around afterwards.
That is what he is for: letting things go. Worn close, he is a reminder that most of what you are holding onto was never yours to carry.
For anyone who takes things to heart and finds it hard to let them go.

How long is it, and where will it sit?
Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
Is the stone real?
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Can I wear it every day?
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
What if I do not like it?
Send it back within 30 days of delivery.
