Two fish, not one, and that changes the whole meaning.
A single carp is the one climbing the Yellow River on its own, and it stands for effort. A pair is a different emblem entirely. In Chinese practice two fish mean a marriage, and specifically a good one: two things moving together with neither holding the other back. The old pun sits underneath it, because yu (魚), fish, sounds like yu (餘), surplus, so the pair carries abundance along with the harmony.
The same two fish mean something else again further west. The Two Golden Fishes are one of the Ashtamangala, the eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism, and they turn up on temple doors, altar cloths and thangkas across the Himalaya. What they stand for there is fearlessness: creatures that move freely through the ocean of suffering with no risk of drowning in it.
So it reads correctly in either tradition, which is rare, and it is most of the reason to want this one.
The fish are gold tone and worked in relief, one rising and one diving, with two small clear stones set between them where the bubbles would be. They are mounted over a plain disc of pale jade that has been left completely uncarved, so the stone stays quiet underneath all that movement.
The obvious piece for an anniversary, or for two people who have got through something together.
It hangs on a fine chain that sits at the collarbone.
Kept on rather than put away, which is the tradition. Natural stone, so the tone and the marking differ piece to piece and the disc will not match the photograph exactly. A soft cloth if it dulls.
Gold plating wears at the points where it rubs, so keep it clear of abrasive surfaces, and the set stones are the part to keep away from hard knocks.

Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
