One Bead, One Breath
A mala is a strand for counting. One bead for each breath or each recitation, 108 to a round, and a guru bead to tell your thumb the round is done. The rest of the day it wraps at the wrist or goes over the head.

One of the two stones on this strand repeats. The other never does.
The pale green runs are aventurine, the stone people keep for luck of the useful kind. Not a windfall. The sort that shows up as an opening: the job that gets mentioned to you, the person who turns out to know somebody. Aventurine has carried that job for a long time and gets given to anyone about to take a chance on something. The beads are near enough identical to each other, which is the point of them. That stretch of the strand is the part where nothing surprises you.
Then it breaks into Indian agate, and no two of those beads are alike. Rust, olive, cream, lilac, bottle green, some banded and some clouded, a few with a line running through them like a horizon. Trade calls this stone fancy jasper for exactly that reason, and a round of it under the thumb is a small argument that variety is normal. Whatever the last bead did, the next one does something else.
For anyone waiting on an opportunity that has not landed yet. A job hunt, a first year of self-employment, a move somewhere you know nobody. It is a good thing to hand a person who needs the year to open up, because the two stones together say luck and say patience at the same time.
A matching bracelet comes with it. Same stones, so most people end up wearing the bracelet daily and keeping the mala where they sit.
Left hand, one bead per breath or per recitation, thumb drawing each one toward you, and turn back at the clear quartz bead above the tassel. If you are only wearing it, none of that applies. Both stones are quartz and take daily handling, but silk does not, so keep the tassel out of water and comb it flat with your fingers if it tangles.

Buddhism counts 108 afflictions, and a mala gives you one bead for each. The guru bead sits outside the count: when your thumb reaches it, the round is done.
Both. It is long enough to go over the head or wrap at the wrist. If you are only wearing it, none of the counting applies.
Yes. Every stone on the strand is genuine natural stone, never glass or resin. They are listed under Details on this page.
Close, but never identical. Natural stone varies in colour and marking from bead to bead, so no two strands match.
