Braided and Knotted by Hand
Every cord is braided and knotted by hand, so the run of colour and the set of each knot differ a little from one to the next. Yours will be its own.

You are not meant to take this off. You are meant to wear it until it falls off.
That is the rule for a Tibetan protection cord, a sungdü. It goes on and it stays on, through sleep, showers and work, and it wears down with you. When one finally snaps on its own, the old reading is that it took something that was meant for you. It does not go in the bin. Burn it, or leave it somewhere clean outdoors.
This one closes with a sliding knot, so you can take it off. Tradition says you don't.
For anyone who wants protection on them every day, not only on the days they remember it.
Pull the sliding knots to size it once and leave it. The braid softens and the colours dull with water and time, and that is the cord doing its job.
Most rope bracelets close with a sliding knot. Pull the knots until it sits right, then leave it. It adjusts to fit most wrists.
Where a bracelet has a toggle or a fixed length, that is listed under Details.

Red is the protective colour: the colour talismans are written in and the colour tied onto a newborn. Tradition says you leave a cord on until it gives out by itself, then tie on the next one.

A cord is temporary by design. It softens and fades with wear and eventually gives out, which is the life it is meant to have. Tradition says you leave it on until then, and tie on the next one.
Yes. A plain cord is meant to stay on through sleep, showers and work, and water only softens and fades it sooner. Take it off for water if it carries stone beads or a plated charm.
The cord and any bead or charm are named under Details on this page.
