Obsidian is not a stone. It is glass, and it was made in about four seconds.
Volcanic glass forms when lava hits water and cools too fast for crystals to grow. No structure, no grain, just a black surface that takes a sharper edge than surgical steel. Stone-age toolmakers used it for blades. It is an abrupt material.
In Chinese folk practice it is the absorbing stone, the one worn when you want something between you and the room. Where jade is thought to settle into you, obsidian is thought to take on what you would rather not carry.
For anyone who spends the day handling other people's problems. Nurses, teachers, anybody whose job is other people at their worst.
It is not a subtle piece. Polished black with the deep glassy shine obsidian takes, and some come out showing a faint sheen when the light moves across them, which is natural to the material.
Obsidian chips where other stones would scratch, so don't drop it on tile and take it off before anything involving impact. A cloth brings the shine back, and it shows fingerprints, so expect to use one.
Heavy on the chest, and you will know it is there all day. If you want the same figure at a weight you stop noticing, the Jade Buddha Pendant is the one.

Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
