The dragon was the emperor's animal, and Chinese sumptuary codes were specific about it. How many claws, on what garment, worn by whom. Five claws belonged to the throne.
What the creature actually commands is water and weather, and through them the harvest, fortune and rank. That is why the throne wanted it kept back, and the restriction is most of the reason a dragon still reads as authority now that anybody can wear one.
This one circles the band without a break, cut in relief, so it reads from every angle and from the back of the hand as readily as the front. There is no front to keep straight, which matters more than it sounds on a ring you intend to wear every day.
The dark channel behind it is doing real work. Relief cut into bare steel tends to vanish, because polished metal throws back a single sheet of light and flattens whatever is standing on it. Blackening the recess and leaving the raised parts bright is what makes the shape legible from across a room.
Two finishes. The steel is quiet enough for an office. The gold tone is not quiet, and is not attempting to be.
Getting the size right
Ten millimetres is wide for a band, and a wide ring sits tighter than a narrow one at the same nominal size. Measure properly, and if you fall between sizes take the larger one.
Looking after stainless steel
Waterproof, no need to take it off, nothing to polish. A cloth if it dulls. The gold tone is an ion coating bonded into the surface, so it holds up far better than gold-plated brass, where the layer eventually rubs through.
A good first piece if you have never worn a ring and want to find out whether you will.

Rings that come in sizes have a Size Guide link under the size options. It shows how to measure your finger with a piece of string and matches the result to US, UK and EU sizes. Rings without size options are adjustable or one size, and the Specifications say which.
Send it back within 30 days. Open-band rings can also be adjusted by gently squeezing or widening the band.
Only when the listing says 925. Tibetan silver is a silver-coloured alloy, and we name the exact metal in the Specifications on every ring.
Tibetan silver darkens gradually with wear, which most people prefer, and a soft cloth brightens it again. Stainless steel does not fade or tarnish.
Stainless steel rings are fine in water. Take off Tibetan silver, gold-toned and stone-set rings before washing up, swimming or using hand cream.
