Carried Close
A pendant rests against the chest, over a shirt or under it, where you feel it through the day. Every design here carries a meaning from tradition: a Buddha for calm, a dragon for strength, jade for protection.

Even the mouth is drilled through.
Look at the jaw. That row of teeth is not cut into the surface, it is cut clean out, and the background shows through the gaps. The same is true across the whole piece. This is openwork, which means the carver has taken the stone away from behind the design rather than carving into its face, leaving the dragon's body crossing over and under itself with nothing at all behind it. Every one of those openings is a chance to crack the piece, and there is no repairing jade once it goes.
That is why openwork costs what it does.
The dragon coils through its own body, head at the top right, tail wrapping back through the middle. It has real depth in the hand and reads differently from every angle, because the pierced sections open and close as you turn it.
For anyone who buys carving as carving. Here the workmanship is the reason and the dragon is almost incidental.
Openwork is more fragile than a solid plaque, because the pierced sections are where it will go if it goes. Don't drop it on a hard floor, and take it off before anything involving impact. Handled with that in mind it will outlive you.
Technically the most difficult thing to carve in jade, and priced far below what the same work costs anywhere it is made by name.

Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
