The hole is where your thumb goes.
A peace buckle is worn rather than displayed. The disc is thick enough to have a real edge to it, cool against the chest for the first few seconds, smooth the whole way round, and people who own one end up working a thumb across it without ever deciding to. That is what the shape is for. It has been cut this way, flat and holed and handled, since long before anybody thought to hang one on a chain.
What a ping'an kou (平安扣) asks for is not luck and not money. It is safe passage, and nothing bad on the way. The lotus supplies the other half of that: the flower that comes up clean out of the silt.
For somebody going through something. A graduation, a move, a first year somewhere new, when the wish is about the journey rather than the destination.
The agate is plain and uncarved so the stone carries the piece. The lotus is matte gold rather than high polish, with small set stones scattered across one leaf, and its stem doubles as the bail: it arcs over the rim and hooks into the hole, so there is no jump ring and nothing soldered to the back.

How long is it, and where will it sit?
Every necklace lists its chain or cord length in the Specifications. As a guide, 45 cm sits on the collarbone and 60 cm on the upper chest. The Length Guide above the Add to cart button shows both.
Is the stone real?
When the Specifications say natural jadeite, jade, agate, chalcedony or obsidian, that is what it is. The exact material of every piece is named there, including the metal and any plating.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical. Natural stone differs in colour and marking from piece to piece, and hand carving varies a little too.
Can I wear it every day?
Yes. Stainless steel can be worn in water. Jade and other stone can stay on through the day, but take it off before sport or anything involving impact. Keep enamel and plated pieces away from water, perfume and abrasion.
What if I do not like it?
